Missionary Interview – Bob and Rhonda Thomas

t4aheaderIf you were unable to tell by the picture above, today’s interview is with Bob and Rhonda Thomas.  They are missionaries to Ethiopia.  When you are done reading there answers, you can check out their missionary website

When did you first feel called into missions?
Rhonda knew she would be a Missionary in High school. I was called in my freshman year of Bible School. We served in the church in the US for 18 years before we knew it was time for us to move to Africa. So we were called young in life and God began to prepare us for what  we would do when we were a bit older.

How did God call you into missions?
Rhonda just gradually became aware of her calling to Missions – (she was saved in a service that a Missionary from Africa was preaching) I was at a Missions service at Central Bible College and was called at that service to Missions.

How did you know what country God was calling you to?
We knew that God was calling us to Africa. I visited Ethiopia in 2006 for 2 weeks, during that trip the Lord spoke to my heart about coming to live and minister in Ethiopia. I wrote in my journal every day and and when Rhonda and I read it together when I went home, we began to sense a calling to Ethiopia.

What is your favorite thing about being a missionary?
Seeing God working in the lives of people and knowing that so many people are involved in the ministry here in Ethiopia.

What has been the most difficult thing you have experienced on the mission field?
There are always struggles any where you live it is very easy to get sick when the water and food is not always safe to eat and drink. It is also hard to be away from our families. But God is faithful.

How has Speed the Light affected your ministry?
We could not do what we do with out our Speed the Light Vehicle. We thank God for it every time we start the engine. We use it every day to do the work that God has called us to do. I travel all over Ethiopia, preaching the Gospel and working with Pastors and Churches. With out our 4 wheel Drive Landcruiser we could not even get to the places where the churches are. During the rainy season the mud makes it challenging to pass some places in the road but our STL vehicle has never let us down! Thank you so much for your faithful giving.
